Elizabeth Demming's (Tracey Bregman) life is suddenly shattered when returning home from a skiing trip with her boyfriend. Customs officers find cocaine concealed in her gear. An unwitting victim of her boyfriend's business ventures, she is arrested, charged with smuggling and sentenced to 1 to 3 years in the State Women's Correctional Institution.
As a means of holding on to her sanity, Elizabeth devotes all her time and energy to getting herself out. But with the predictable disapearance of her boyfriend, she has virtually no contact with the outside world.
Inside, innocent, is the same as guilty. Nobody asks what you are. As an inmate, society is protected from her, but who will protect Elizabeth from the society inside?
