Kill Bill: Volume 1 (10/10/03) [Last Updated: 10/20/03]
"As I said before, I've allowed you to keep your wicked life for two reasons. And the second reason is so you can tell him in person everything that happened here tonight. I want him to witness the extent of my mercy by witnessing your deformed body. I want you to tell him all the information you just told me. I want him to know what I know. I want him to know I want him to know. And I want them all to know they'll all soon be as dead as O-Ren."

09/19/04 Takashi Miike Directs Kill Bill Staged Spin Off Written by Quentin Tarantino
Twitch reports Quentin Tarantino + Takashi Miike = Live Theater?:
While introducing tonight's Midnight Madness screening of Takashi Miike's Zebraman, Toronto Film Festival programmer Colin Geddes first relayed Miike's regrets for not being in attendance and then relayed this little bit of news:

Miike and Quentin Tarantino were both in attendence at the just-wrapped-up Venice Film Festival this year and at some point during the proceedings the two of them sat down for a little chat. I'm willing to bet Quentin did most of the talking. But what came out of that talk was this: when writing the screenplay for Kill Bill Tarantino originally gave Go Go Yubari a twin sister, a character cut out of the final script for pacing reasons. Tarantino and Miike talked about the character some and the end result was Tarantino giving Miike permission to direct a stage play based on the Yubari twin and the removed section of screenplay.

No word on what the title will be or when this will actually hit the stage - Miike's got three films in various stages of production right now, so it won't be any time soon - but Geddes is in regular contact with the man and I very much doubt he would have spilled this if it wasn't definite.

Chiaki Kuriyama, who played Yubari, is also going to be in Miike's upcoming film Yokai Daisenso but there is no word if she is involved.

01/08/04 "Kill Bill" Animated Prequel & Possible Live Action Sequel
Ananova reports that director Quentin Tarantino is planning an animated prequel to "Kill Bill" which will show the early times of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. The film will be drawn in Japanese anime style that was already seen in "Kill Bill Vol. 1" and the story will focus on the three men (Esteban Vihaio, Hattori Hanzo and Pei Mei) who turned Bill into a ruthless killer.

Tarantino told Zap2It that "In the writing of the film, since I'm creating my own mythology from the ground up, I had to figure out that mythology, I had to really figure out what's going on. In the course of doing that I came up with all these cool stories and all these cool tales and these interesting things that would just bog everything down if I tried to get them across. So now that the mythology is set up, I'd like to explore it in a few different ways".

QT himself is expected to write and produce the film, whilst he also speculated that he could return to Kill Bill's world in 15 years' time to follow the daughter of Vivica Fox's character seeking revenge for the slaying of her mother in front of her. In the meantime the director is next set to direct the WW2 flick "Inglorious Bastards".

Also be sure to check out the production notes and new trailer. (Compiled by Dark Horizons)

12/23/03 The Kill Bill NECA Figures
Here's the official word (http://www.moviemaniacs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10789) - (login required):
It has come to my attention that a teaser image of our Kill Bill prototypes has been leaked onto the internet. I wanted to give you the facts - this is just a teaser image of prototypes in progress that we used for sales purposes. The sculpts are not final and have been changed.
The image is even labeled as such but you can not read the small print due to the small size of the leaked image.

The Bride and Crazy 88 are final sculpts but not the final paint
The O-Ren and Go Go are not final sculpts or paint.

Next week, hopefully in time for Christmas we will release some official images of what NECA's Kill Bill line really looks like. There is more for you to feast your eyes on then what is in the teaser image - trust me.

I love the way this line has turned out and I think you will too.

More -
Kill Bill - wait until you see the real images of the full figures with accessories, bases, and most importantly the final sculpts and the final paint.

FYI-
There are 3 different Crazy 88

07/18/02 Kill Bill Interview w/ Tarantino
An interview with Quentin Tarantino about his new flick Kill Bill is up at MonkeyPeaches. Check out this clip:
It’s so far the purest action or kung-fu I have made. The movie, with a story about a killer seeking revenge, got lots of action scenes. I I will make it to the coolest movie. Drive people crazy, and make people shaking. Fight scenes in the movie have strong flavor of Chinese kung-fu. This is my attempt of trying new film type, and I will take this opportunity to push me to a new era. In this movie, I will explore my inspiration as much as I like. Meanwhile, the biggest challenge is, I must see whether I can make it to a movie I have imaged and see how high can I reach.
A mixed/negative script review of "Kill Bill" with some minor spoilers is up over at Screenwriter's Utopia. (What kind of utopia for screenwriters dishes out the dirt on someone's unreleased script?)

06/28/02 Kill Bill Kills Tarantino?
Coming Attractions posted a negative review with major spoilers of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. Here's some of the mud:
Bill Kill ... is a sweaty, overworked disaster that reads like something a [Quentin Tarantino] imitator dreamed up. Remember the TV show Mia Wallace talks about in Pulp Fiction? Fox Force Five? Well, Kill Bill brings it to life. Only it’s not even as good or cognizant-of-itself as that fatuous TV premise.
Actually, I think Tarantino making a Fox Force Five movie would be pretty damn funny, to bad he isn't. That'd be a spoof, this sounds like he's trying to make the real deal.

03/20/02 Kill Bill Interview w/ Tarantino
Quentin Tarantino traveled to Beijing in early March to prep for shooting on "Kill Bill" where he exclusively talked with Beijing Youth, and now a transcript is up at Monkey Peaches. Amongst the new highlights is that the film will be spead across four countries - China, Japan, Mexico and America as Uma's character travels around the world to kill the five men who've traumatized her. About the script, QT says:
"For an average script, you must first imagine what the action scene is then you shoot it. But my script is different. In my script, you can see all the actions. In my script. action and fight scenes alone occupy 22 pages, which has cost me a whole year to write. This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I not only had to make it better but also had to design each move as well as the momentum and the strength among the words. Each sentence must show feelings and strengths. I just wrote and re-wrote, for a whole year. Just like this, the script has gradually been enriched and become more complete. I first wrote it section by section. If it was too hard to come out connections between sections, I just left them blank and went to watch Hong Kong movies, watch Japanese samurai movies, to look for inspirations to fill my script. This process is painful and long. The final product is something totally original and something of my own".
Variety is reporting that Daryl Hannah has indeed signed on to play Uma's nemesis and Lucy Liu is in final talks to play Oren Ishi, Queen of the Tokyo Yakuza. Jacqueline Bisset is also rumored to be contemplating a role. The film will start shooting in June and locations include California, China, Japan and Mexico.
